GCC Secretary General Urges UN to Address Iranian Attacks on Bahrain

New york: Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, stated that the emergency briefing by Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Bahrain's Minister of Foreign Affairs, to the United Nations Security Council regarding Iranian attacks against Bahrain highlights the nation's commitment to diplomatic and legal avenues.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the briefing, which included an account of the incidents and their humanitarian and security implications, underscores Bahrain's efforts to alert the international community about the severity of these events and their impact on regional security and stability. Albudaiwi emphasized that Bahrain's approach is rooted in respect for international law and the United Nations Charter, reflecting its dedication to overcoming challenges through international frameworks and contributing to the strengthening of regional and global peace.

Albudaiwi also reiterated the Gulf Cooperation Council's unwavering support for Bahrain, endorsing all measures taken by the Kingdom to safeguard its security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He stressed the indivisibility of GCC states' security, declaring that an attack on one member state is considered an attack on all.

The GCC Secretary General further called upon the international community, particularly the Security Council, to fulfill its responsibilities in maintaining international peace and security. He urged a firm stance against these attacks to ensure the cessation of actions that threaten regional security, uphold the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter, and bolster regional and international security and stability.
