Manama:Typhoon Dujuan has brought record rainfall and triggered mudslides in the Kanto region, resulting in the deaths of nine people and leaving four others missing.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the typhoon approached Japan from Monday into Tuesday, leading to developed rain clouds that lingered over Kanto, which includes Tokyo and the Izu Islands.
Eight locations in Kanto recorded unprecedented rainfall. Oshima Island experienced 832 millimeters of rain over 48 hours, more than 2.4 times the average for September. Ushiku in Ichihara City, Chiba Prefecture, saw 392.5 millimeters in 24 hours.
In Chiba Prefecture, landslides have claimed the lives of six people, with two more missing. In Kanagawa Prefecture, three fatalities have been reported, with two people unaccounted for in Yokosuka and Miura cities.
Over 600 houses have suffered damage in Chiba and Kanagawa due to flooding and mudslides. Recovery efforts and searches for the missing are ongoing in the affected areas.
