Trkiye Summons Iranian Ambassador Over Ballistic Munition Incident

Ankara: The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Ankara, Mohammad Hassan Habibollah zadeh, following the detection and neutralisation of a ballistic munition launched from Iran towards Turkish airspace.

According to Bahrain News Agency, diplomatic sources revealed that the Iranian ambassador was informed at the ministry of Trkiye's strong concern and protest over the incident. This situation necessitated the intervention of NATO air and missile defence elements stationed in the eastern Mediterranean to neutralise the threat before it reached Turkish airspace.

The diplomatic move occurs amid rising military tensions in the region since late February, which have included reciprocal attacks and missile strikes impacting several regional countries, leading to casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure.
