Doha: The State of Qatar dispatched a second identical message to António Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations, and Michael Waltz, Permanent Representative of the United States of America to the UN and President of the UN Security Council (UNSC) for the month of March, addressing the Iranian attack on its territory. Qatar described the attack as a flagrant violation of its national sovereignty, a direct threat to its security and territorial integrity, and an unacceptable escalation that endangers regional stability. According to Bahrain News Agency, the message was delivered by Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani, Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the UN. The communication highlighted the Ministry of Defense of Qatar's announcement regarding the success of the Qatar Amiri Air Force in intercepting two (SU24) aircraft from Iran. Additionally, seven ballistic missiles were intercepted by air defenses, and five drones, which targeted various locations in Qatar, were intercepted by the Qatar Amiri Air Force and the Qatar Amiri Naval Forces. The message detailed further that Qatar faced two drone attacks from Iran. The first targeted water tanks at Mesaieed Power Plant, while the second targeted an energy facility in Ras Laffan Industrial City operated by QatarEnergy. Fortunately, there were no human casualties reported from these incidents. The message stated that relevant authorities would assess all damages and losses from the attack and that Qatar would continue to inform the UN and the UNSC of any developments. The State of Qatar emphasized its strong condemnation of the attack and its right to respond in accordance with Article (51) of the UN Charter, defending its sovereignty and preserving its security and national interests. Qatar also requested that the letter be circulated as an official UNSC document.
