Manama: Fatima Abdulla Al Dhaen, Undersecretary for Land Transport and Postal Affairs at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, welcomed Dr. Hashim Hussein, Head of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) Regional Office for Investment and Technology in Bahrain. The meeting aimed to enhance cooperation in the fields of land transport, economic development, and innovation support.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Undersecretary Al Dhaen acknowledged the significant impact of the UNIDO regional office in Bahrain, particularly through its initiatives that bolster the business environment, industrial development, and entrepreneurship at both local and regional levels. She extended her congratulations to Dr. Hussein on the 30th anniversary of the office's establishment in Bahrain, as well as the 25th anniversary of the Bahraini Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion (EDIP) Programme.
The discussions between Al Dhaen and Dr. Hussein explored potential collaborations in the land transport sector. The focus was on supporting entrepreneurs, start-ups, and small to medium-sized enterprises by sharing expertise and developing initiatives aimed at fostering innovation, sustainability, and improved logistics and transport services.
Both parties stressed the importance of ongoing coordination to create opportunities for emerging businesses. They also discussed supporting the transition to smart and sustainable transport solutions, aligning with Bahrain's development goals and efforts to enhance the sector's competitive standing at the regional and international levels.
