Manama: As part of the Kingdom of Bahrain's presidency of the 46th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA), chaired the 28th meeting of the GCC Digital Government Executive Committee. The meeting was held virtually and saw participation from heads and representatives of digital government entities from GCC member states.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting was attended by Dr. Khalid Al Mutawa, Deputy Chief Executive for Operations and Governance at the iGA, along with several officials from the authority. In his remarks, Al Qaed emphasized the importance of advancing joint GCC cooperation in digital government, aiming to enhance government services, improve efficiency, and keep pace with technological transformation.
He noted that GCC member states are committed to strengthening digital integration as a strategic priority. This focus is aimed at building a unified Gulf digital ecosystem capable of responding effectively and flexibly to emerging developments and challenges, especially in technologies led by artificial intelligence.
The meeting reviewed several agenda items, including the GCC Digital Government Award, which seeks to promote excellence and innovation in digital government services across member states. Participants also examined the outcomes of a workshop on the first report regarding the implementation of the UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence. Additionally, discussions included Bahrain's "MyGov Unified App for Individuals" initiative, a national project aimed at enhancing user experience and improving the integration and efficiency of digital government services through a unified platform.
Preparations for the 10th meeting of the GCC Ministerial Committee for Digital Government were also discussed.
