Manama: Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications of Bahrain, welcomed Dr. Rumaih bin Mohammed Al Rumaih, the Saudi Deputy Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, for discussions aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in the fields of transport, communications, and logistics.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting underscored Bahrain's commitment to strengthening its relationship and strategic partnership with Saudi Arabia. The dialogue focused on advancing cooperation in transport and logistics to serve mutual interests, with key development projects such as the King Hamad Causeway and the Gulf Cooperation Council railway project taking center stage. Both parties also explored the potential for unified international land transport systems, as well as the enhancement of maritime links through direct cargo and passenger routes, maritime passenger tourism, and training collaborations. The coordination within the International Maritime Organisation was also a topic of discussion.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed emphasized Bahrain's readiness to provide essential resources for successful land and sea connection initiatives between the two nations. He pointed out that the partnership in logistics development aligns with Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030 and supports regional integration under the Gulf Cooperation Council, which benefits both countries and contributes to regional growth.
Dr. Rumaih bin Mohammed expressed his pride in the ongoing progress of bilateral relations and lauded Bahrain's efforts in infrastructure development and strategic connectivity. He highlighted the significance of continued collaboration in major projects to enhance economic integration and logistics prominence.
The visit was concluded with a tour of Sa'ada Port and Masar Company's fleet, where they reviewed advanced marine and commercial facilities, further cementing maritime cooperation between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
