Manama: Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, conducted a site visit to Texel Air, a Bahrain-based company specialising in air cargo and aircraft maintenance. The visit came as part of the ministry's efforts to develop partnerships with the private sector and review the latest technological advancements and services in this key sector. According to Bahrain News Agency, during the visit, the Minister met with John Chisholm, Chairman of Texel Air, to discuss current projects and future plans aimed at supporting the growth of Bahrain's aviation sector. They also explored ways to enhance cooperation to achieve the goals of the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, positioning the Kingdom as a leading regional hub for aviation and logistics, while boosting its competitiveness in these domains. The minister commended Texel Air's role in delivering advanced air cargo and aircraft maintenance services and emphasised the importance of continuing to develop the aviation sector to meet global market demands. Chisholm expressed his appreciation to the minister for his ongoing support of companies operating in Bahrain, noting that the visit reflects the ministry's commitment to advancing the aviation and air cargo sectors and fostering public-private partnerships. Texel Air has demonstrated significant growth in the aviation sector, operating five Boeing 737 aircraft registered under Bahrain's national registry. The company employs around 156 staff members and is licensed by Bahrain's Civil Aviation Affairs to provide light and heavy aircraft maintenance services and scheduled air cargo operations.
