Manama: Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, recently engaged in discussions with Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), during her visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain for the Bab Al Bahrain Forum 2025.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed emphasized Bahrain's commitment to enhancing cooperation with the WTO in areas including transportation, telecommunications, digital trade, and global supply chain enhancement. He underscored the country's ongoing efforts to develop infrastructure and expand its maritime, air, and land transport networks. These initiatives aim to bolster Bahrain's role as a regional and global logistics and trade hub, aligning with the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Dr. Okonjo-Iweala, in turn, praised Bahrain's initiatives in digital transformation, free trade, and economic openness. She expressed the WTO's commitment to continuing technical cooperation and the exchange of expertise with Bahrain to support their mutual development objectives.
