Manama: Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, held a meeting with Jassim Mohammed Al Budaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), to discuss ongoing efforts in regional integration and cooperation across various sectors.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the discussions centered around the progress of connectivity projects in land, sea, and air among GCC nations. The meeting also explored joint investments and the exchange of knowledge in communications and information technology. Dr. Shaikh Abdulla emphasized the critical role of adopting artificial intelligence technologies, fostering innovation, and bolstering the digital economy. He acknowledged the General Secretariat's contributions in enhancing Gulf cooperation and adhering to the directives issued by GCC leaders.
The minister reiterated Bahrain's dedication to fortifying strategic partnerships with GCC countries, highlighting the importance of collaboration with the General Secretariat to expedite the implementation of joint development projects in transport, telecommunications, and infrastructure sectors. Additionally, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla stressed the significance of advancing the GCC railway network project and promoting digital transformation as essential components for achieving comprehensive economic integration and sustainable development.
Jassim Mohammed Al Budaiwi, the GCC Secretary General, expressed gratitude for Bahrain's unwavering support of regional economic integration. He lauded the minister's dedication to improving connectivity and integration in key sectors such as transport, telecommunications, and logistics, aligning with the GCC nations' aspirations for continued progress and long-term prosperity.
