TRA Publishes 2024 Inspection Campaign Results

Manama: The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) conducted 148 inspection campaigns in 2024, targeting telecommunications device retailers, licensed wireless device vendors, and authorised frequency spectrum users.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the TRA reviewed 11,423 import license applications for telecommunications devices over the year, reflecting a 9% rise from the 10,488 applications processed in 2023. Violations related to telecommunications device imports saw a decrease, dropping to four in 2024 from 19 in the previous year. This suggests an increasing awareness among businesses and individuals regarding compliance.

The TRA's Spectrum Directorate collaborates with the Customs Affairs Department at the Ministry of Interior to inspect imported telecom devices both pre- and post-arrival in Bahrain. This process ensures adherence to the technical regulations set by the TRA, aims to optimise frequency spectrum usage, and prevents harmful interference.

By disseminating these findings, the TRA underscores the necessity of obtaining proper licenses for importing wireless devices. This compliance with Bahrain's technical regulations is crucial to avert potential issues that could impact individuals, businesses, and government entities.
