TRA Participates in WTDC-25 in Baku


Baku: The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) was an active participant in the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-25) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), which took place in Azerbaijan. The conference saw Bahrain, as an elected member of the ITU Council, engage in various committees, working groups, and discussions focused on sector development policies. This involvement demonstrated Bahrain’s dedication to advancing digital inclusion and making strides in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector.



According to Bahrain News Agency, the Bahraini delegation highlighted the nation’s achievements in digital transformation, regulatory modernization, and efforts to expand access to high-quality connectivity. The conference also provided a platform for Bahrain to showcase its progress and commitment to the shared goals of ITU member states.



In conjunction with the conference activities, the Bahraini delegation hosted a reception in Baku. This event was attended by senior officials, organizers, diplomats, and representatives from the international telecommunications community, providing a networking opportunity to discuss ongoing and future collaborations.



Mariam Ahmed Jamaan, Chairperson of the TRA, took the opportunity to express Bahrain’s support for Adel Darwish’s upcoming candidacy for the position of ITU Deputy Secretary-General for the 2027 – 2030 term. She emphasized Darwish’s experience, leadership skills, and vision for enhancing the ITU’s global role.



The delegation also reiterated its unwavering commitment to collaborating with the ITU and other member states to foster sustainable, inclusive, and innovative digital development, aiming to contribute to a better digital future for all.
