Manama: Fatima bint Jaafar Al Sairafi, Bahrain's Minister of Tourism, underscored that the Time-share Law represents a transformative step in the kingdom's tourism sector. The law, aligned with Bahrain's 2022-2026 tourism strategy, aims to elevate and diversify tourism services across the Kingdom of Bahrain.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the issuance of Edict (1) of 2025 by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa came as part of priority legislation to align with development requirements and the 2022-2026 tourism strategy. The minister noted that the law keeps pace with rapid global tourism developments and meets tourists' interest in sharing time in accommodation units within hotel or tourism projects offering short-term stays.
She highlighted that the new law protects the rights of beneficiaries and stakeholders in short-term accommodation units, addressing all related aspects, including mechanisms for depositing beneficiaries' funds and issuing administrative decisions that regulate contracts and periodic time periods for accommodation unit usage.
The minister explained that the law will contribute to revitalising tourism, improving service quality for tourists, and beneficially enhancing the investment environment in the tourism sector by attracting new investments in short-term accommodation units for tourism projects.
She noted that the "Time-share" system will enable any foreign tourist to purchase hotel units for a specific time of the year, varying between days, weeks, or months according to agreements and offers from hotels, resorts, and tourism establishments in the Kingdom.
Minister Al Sairafi emphasised that the new law followed an extensive study spanning several months, including comparative research of legal systems from regional, European, and international models. She expressed appreciation to the legislative authority, represented by the Shura and Representatives Councils, for their efforts, insights, and perspectives that contributed to issuing the law in its final approved form.
