Deputy Prime Minister Chairs Weekly Cabinet Meeting

Gudaibiya: The Deputy Prime Minister, His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, chaired the weekly Cabinet Meeting today at Gudaibiya Palace. The meeting highlighted several key national and international issues, including the outcomes of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's visit to the Sultanate of Oman.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Cabinet underscored the significance of the discussions between HM the King and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said of Oman. These talks reaffirmed the historical ties between the two nations and explored avenues for cooperation across various sectors. The Cabinet stressed the importance of implementing agreements, memoranda of understanding, and executive programmes to strengthen bilateral relations.

The Cabinet also highlighted the inauguration of the Nasser bin Hamad Cycling Track in the Southern Governorate, part of the Kingdom's efforts to promote sports participation. This initiative is supported by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The Ministry of Works was commended for its role in implementing this project.

In the education sector, the Cabinet congratulated outstanding students of the first semester of the 2024-2025 academic year and acknowledged the Ministry of Education's efforts in advancing the Kingdom's educational initiatives. On the International Day of Education, the contributions of Bahrain's educational staff were also recognized.

The Cabinet emphasized the importance of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, advocating for the exchange of detainees and the return of displaced persons. The Cabinet appreciated the diplomatic efforts of Egypt, Qatar, and the United States in mediating the ceasefire agreement.

Several memorandums were approved during the meeting, including developments in digital transformation, Bahrain's procedures for signing international agreements, the formation of a Bahrain-Saudi urban planning team, a framework for reviewing kindergarten performance, and the government's response to proposals from the Council of Representatives.

The Cabinet reviewed progress reports from the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture and the Ministry of Health as part of the 2023-2026 Government Programme. It also took note of Bahrain's participation in international forums and events, including the Dubai International Project Management Forum, the IRENA General Assembly, and the 'Manama Retro' event.
