Tourism Minister Chairs Third Meeting of BTEA Board of Directors for 2026

Manama: The Board of Directors of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) held its third regular meeting of 2026, chaired by Fatima bint Jaafar Al Sairafi, Tourism Minister and Chairwoman of the BTEA Board of Directors. Sarah Ahmed Buhiji, BTEA Chief Executive Officer, was present.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the minister emphasized the importance of continuing to implement plans and initiatives aimed at supporting the growth of the tourism sector and strengthening partnerships with the private sector. The focus remains on developing high-quality projects and initiatives that contribute to consolidating Bahrain's position as a leading tourist destination and supporting economic development objectives.

The Board members reviewed tourism sector performance indicators for the second quarter of 2026 and discussed the sector's development priorities. They also considered initiatives and measures aimed at enhancing its resilience and sustaining its growth. Further, the Board assessed the key outcomes of BTEA's marketing and promotional efforts to strengthen Bahrain's position as a regional and international tourist destination, attract more visitors, and support the sector's growth.

The Board discussed the events calendar for the coming period, which includes a diverse range of programmes and activities. They also followed up on the latest developments concerning the authority's strategic projects. Efforts to develop the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism sector and strengthen the Kingdom's position in this vital field were also reviewed.

Moreover, the Board looked into the latest developments at Exhibition World Bahrain, focusing on ongoing efforts to attract and host major events, exhibitions, and conferences.
