Manama: The Board of Directors of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) held its second regular meeting of 2026, chaired by Fatima bint Jaffar Al Sairafi, Minister of Tourism and Chairperson of the Board. The meeting was attended by Sara Ahmed Buhiji, Chief Executive Officer of the Authority.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the board reviewed key developments in the tourism sector, as well as performance indicators achieved during the first quarter of 2026. Plans to accelerate the sector's growth were examined, focusing on expanding cooperation and enhancing coordination with the private sector to strengthen resilience and sustainability.
The meeting further reviewed the upcoming events calendar, featuring a range of programs and activities. Board members were also briefed on the latest developments at the Exhibition World Bahrain, including its continued progress in hosting major events and reinforcing its position as a leading destination for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE).
The meeting concluded with an emphasis on the importance of continuing to adopt an integrated approach that enhances the tourism sector's resilience, supports its role in advancing development, and consolidates Bahrain's position as an attractive tourism destination at the regional level.
