Rome – Together – Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Muhammad Mustafa discussed, on Saturday, with his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni in the Italian capital, Rome, ceasefire and relief efforts for Gaza.
Mustafa briefed his Italian counterpart on the latest developments in the situation in Palestine and the genocidal war against our people in the Gaza Strip, in addition to the ongoing Israeli violations in the West Bank and settler terrorism, and the unprecedented increase in the pace of settlement, which threatens the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
He stressed that the priority now is to stop the war of extermination in Gaza, restore basic services to meet the humanitarian needs of our people in the Strip, and release the withheld clearance funds.
Mustafa called on Italy to recognize the Palestinian state, like 147 countries that have previously recognized Palestine, the most recent of which are Spain, Norway and Ireland.
In turn, Meloni affirmed her cou
ntry’s support for the two-state solution, and its readiness for joint action, especially during her country’s presidency of the G7 group to achieve the two-state solution, noting that the situation in the Middle East and the war on the Gaza Strip top the agenda of the group’s meetings.
The Prime Minister had met with the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Taiani, who affirmed his country’s support for the Palestinian government’s agenda, Italy’s endeavor to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and to work on a rapid response to urgent humanitarian needs.
