Doha: Team Bahrain increased its medal tally to 45 medals by the end of the fifth day of competition after winning two gold medals in athletics, one bronze in shooting, and one bronze in snooker. The Kingdom's medal tally now stands at 18 gold, 17 silver, and 10 bronze medals. According to Bahrain News Agency, Bahrain's athletics team secured two gold medals in the women's 3000m steeplechase and the mixed 400m relay following strong performances in both events. In shooting, Bahrain won the bronze medal in the mixed doubles shotgun event. In snooker, Bahrain added another bronze medal in the 6-ball competition after reaching the semi-finals. Bahrain's national volleyball team also opened its campaign with a 3-0 victory over Oman. However, in table tennis, Bahrain's campaign suffered a setback following an injury that forced the men's doubles team to withdraw from the competition. In padel, Bahrain's women's and men's teams both suffered defeats against Kuwait and the UAE respectively. Maryam Mardana, Direct or of Team Bahrain's delegation, continued overseeing organisational and logistical arrangements related to Bahrain's participation across venues in Doha. Administrative teams also continued supervising accommodation, transportation, and logistical matters related to the delegation to ensure suitable conditions for athletes and technical staff. Competitions will continue on Sunday with Bahrain participating in athletics, volleyball, table tennis, padel, and snooker.
