Manama: The Labour Fund (Tamkeen) and Invita have partnered to enhance accessibility for the hearing-impaired through Nasmaakum, an innovative sign language mobile application developed by Invita to promote inclusivity for individuals with hearing and speech impairments across Bahrain. This collaboration is set to revolutionise communication standards, empowering businesses and individuals to bridge the gap between the hearing-impaired community and the wider society.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Nasmaakum will enable Tamkeen to communicate with customers with hearing and speech impairments, opening the door for them to benefit from Tamkeen's support. Esam Hammad, Executive Director of Customer Experience at Tamkeen, expressed pride in this initiative, which reflects Tamkeen's commitment to offering the highest levels of service to all members of society through various channels.
He emphasised Tamkeen's commitment to promoting innovation, inclusivity, and the adoption of advanced technologies to support social and economic development. He noted that the partnership reflects Tamkeen's dedication to empowering individuals with impairments and ensuring equal opportunities, adding that the initiative aligns with the organisation's goal of positioning Bahrain as a centre for innovation and accessibility.
Rahul Bhalla, Chief Executive of Invita, noted that integrating Nasmaakum into the wider community empowers individuals with impairments to engage more easily with the world, reinforcing a shared vision of building a more inclusive Bahrain. This partnership underscores Bahrain's commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities, by ensuring that hearing-impaired individuals have equal access to communication and services.
Nasmaakum is poised to expand its reach, helping businesses across Bahrain adopt this transformative technology and making the country a regional leader in accessibility and inclusion.
