Damascus: Mohammed Al Bashir, Minister of Energy of the Syrian Arab Republic, announced that Syria will soon sign an agreement with the Republic of Trkiye to supply electricity through a 400-kilovolt transmission line linking Trkiye's Reyhanli and the Harem region in rural Idlib.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Bashir explained that the agreement also includes work to establish a natural gas pipeline from the Turkish city of Kilis to Aleppo, with a capacity of up to six million cubic metres per day. This is expected to support electricity generation in Syria.
The minister invited Turkish companies to invest in Syria's energy sector, noting available opportunities in oil and gas exploration, refining, energy transmission, rehabilitation of power lines, and the repair of generation plants and refineries.
Syria faces a severe electricity shortage and is working with regional partners, including Gulf states, to develop its energy and power sectors.
