Sustainable Development Minister holds discussions with UAE, Egypt, Jordan

Minister of Sustainable Development Noor bint Ali Al Khulaif held joint discussions with the delegations of the UAE, the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The meetings were held on the sidelines of her participation in the high-profile political forum on sustainable development, in New York.

The Minister of Sustainable Development met with the Director General of the UAE Prime Minister’s Office, Deputy Chairman of the National Committee for Sustainable Development Goals, Abdullah Nasser Lootah. She stressed the significance of boosting cooperation with the GCC member states in terms of exchanging experiences and developing capabilities to meet the goals of the comprehensive development march and Bahrain Economic Vision 2030. She congratulated the UAE government on the success of its Voluntary National Review (VNR) for the second time, pointing out that this success is a reflection of the achievements made in various fields.

Al Khulaif also praised cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the UAE which reflects the importance of fostering regional and international cooperation to achieve the sustainable development goals and benefit from the UAE experience in this respect.

For his part, the Director General of the UAE Prime Minister’s Office, Deputy Chairman of the National Committee for Sustainable Development Goals expressed appreciation of boosting cooperation with the Kingdom of Bahrain to avail of the specialized programmes in developing capabilities and exchanging experiences about sustainable growth. He praised Bahrain’s great interest in achieving the sustainable development goals, lauding its accomplishments since submitting its first VNR.

The Minister of Sustainable Development also met with Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Hala Al-Said. She stressed deep historical relations between the two brotherly countries and common keenness on further bolstering bilateral relations in various fields.

Both sides discussed boosting cooperation to achieve the sustainable development goals through joint programmes and projects.

For her part, Dr. Hala Al-Said commended solid relations between both countries, stressing keenness on promoting joint cooperation and exchanging experiences to achieve the sustainable development goals.

The Minister of Sustainable Development also met with Jordanian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Nasser Shraideh, and discussed with him joint cooperation in the field of sustainable development. She congratulated the Jordanian government on the success of its VNR for the second time during the high-profile political forum on the sustainable development goals held in New York.

Al Khulaif commended the advanced experiences of the Jordanian government in carrying out the sustainable development goals and the UN agenda 2030. She stressed the importance of taking advantage of this distinguished experience in developing the national capabilities and highlighting Bahrain’s efforts and accomplishments in achieving the sustainable development goals in the kingdom’s next VNR.

For his part, the Jordanian minister praised constructive cooperation between the two brotherly countries, stressing the importance of exchanging experiences in preparing international reports on the sustainable development indices.
