Beijing: Noor bint Ali Alkhulaif, Minister of Sustainable Development and Chief Executive of the Bahrain Economic Development Board (Bahrain EDB), represented the Kingdom of Bahrain as she co-chaired at the World Economic Forum's (WEF) Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2025 held in China. Minister Alkhulaif played an active role in shaping the agenda, contributing Bahrain's perspective on innovation-led growth, human capital development, and regional economic integration. Her participation underscored the Kingdom's commitment to sustainable development and global cooperation.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the forum brought together over 1,700 leaders from government, business, and academia to explore new economic models in response to evolving global dynamics. Minister Alkhulaif participated in several high-level sessions that highlighted Bahrain's strategic priorities, including economic diversification, future skills, and the role of women in shaping the global economy.
In a session on trade and investment between the Middle East and China, the minister emphasized Bahrain's position as a regional gateway for Asian investment. In another session, she showcased the Kingdom's efforts in preparing its workforce for the digital economy and advancing gender equality through national initiatives.
On the sidelines of the forum, the minister met B¸rge Brende, President and CEO of the World Economic Forum, to discuss the growing strategic partnership between Bahrain and WEF and explore areas of future collaboration, including preparations for the 2025 annual meeting.
Bahrain's presence at the forum, led by Minister Alkhulaif, reflects the country's active engagement in global dialogue and its ongoing efforts to position itself as a forward-looking, innovation-driven economy.
