The Sports Cardiology Conference kicked off today under the patronage of Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and in the presence of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS), President of the General Sports Authority and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee.
The event, which is being held from December 2 to 4, is organised by the Ministry of Health and Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa Specialist Cardiac Centre in cooperation with SCYS.
In his inaugural speech, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa stressed that the Sports Cardiology Conference, which is being held in the Kingdom of Bahrain for the first time in the region, reflects the health care efforts enjoyed by citizens and residents in the Kingdom of Bahrain, within the framework of the visions of His Majesty the King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa regarding the provision of health care to citizens, being the main pillar of the comprehensive development process in the Kingdom.
HH Shaikh Nasser praised the interest and support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and his keenness to follow up on the provision of healthcare to all citizens and residents in line with the royal visions. He pointed out the importance accorded by the kingdom to practising sport which helped bring about many accomplishments and turned exercising into a lifestyle.
HH Shaikh Nasser underlined the importance of the conference in tackling issues related to the right practice of sports to maintain cardiac health and sensitize the public to the need to practise sport in the right way to prevent any complications. He also praised the efforts of the Ministry of Health and Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa Specialist Cardiac Centre and SCYS to organize the conference. He also pointed out the national awareness campaign conducted prior to the conference, wishing the conference every success in coming up with positive results.
For her part, Health Minister Faeqa bint Said Al Saleh expressed thanks and appreciation to HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for patronizing the conference and supporting all the national efforts to ensure the health and safety of citizens and residents in the Kingdom of Bahrain. She pointed out measures taken in this respect, stressing that the conference is a clear evidence of the care and support accorded by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the government, led by HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to citizens’ health.
