Speaker stresses importance of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening relations with other countries

Tashkent, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, and the head of Bahrain’s parliamentary delegation to the 14th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament (14SWSP), Fawzia Abdulla Zainal, has asserted that enhancing joint parliamentary action with friendly and brotherly countries is a priority for Bahrain’s parliamentary diplomacy, in line with the policies adopted by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

She pointed out that the Bahraini parliamentary efforts aimed at raising the level of partnership with brotherly and friendly countries are consistent with the role of the Kingdom’s foreign diplomacy, whose balanced policy is implemented by the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, stressing the importance of parliamentary cooperation and coordination in facing the challenges and crises facing countries and peoples.

Speaker Fawzia Zainal made the statements while holding meetings here with her counterparts from Indonesia, Belgium, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, Montenegro and Spain, on the sidelines of their participation in the 14SWSP, convened by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), in close cooperation with the Senate of the Parliament of Uzbekistan.

During the meetings, stressed the importance of using parliamentary diplomacy to enhance economic and investment cooperation, as well as increase the volume of trade exchange between Bahrain and friendly countries, affirming that the kingdom is a strategic financial hub in the region, with an advanced investment atmosphere and multiple facilities for investors.

She highlighted the progress currently witnessed by the kingdom in the fields of education, health and human rights.

Speaker Zainal also called for the need to coordinate the stances and visions with brotherly and friendly countries at international gatherings to meet the aspirations of peoples for a better future.
