Manama: Speaker of the Council of Representatives Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam affirmed the importance of focusing on initiatives and projects aimed at boosting food security, providing commodities and controlling markets and outlets in light of the citizens’ remarks about an increase in the prices of some products.
The Speaker pointed out the need to monitor the prices of commodities and ensure their availability, noting the importance of protecting the consumers, raising awareness and promoting community partnership.
This came during a meeting today with Minister of Industry and Commerce, Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro, in the presence of Second Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives Ahmed Abdulwahid Qarata, and member of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee Hassan Ibrahim Hassan.
Discussions focused on ways of boosting parliamentary support to the commercial, industrial and investment sectors and promoting the consumer-protection culture.
The Minister of Industry and Commerce asserted the ministry’s keenness on regular inspection of the markets in the Kingdom of Bahrain to control prices, ensure that there are no manipulations regarding commodity prices, and achieve comprehensive monitoring.
