Manama: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, met with a Brazilian Congress delegation led by Senator Fl¡vio Bolsonaro, who chairs the Public Security Committee in the Brazilian Federal Senate. The meeting aimed to review bilateral relations and discuss efforts to enhance cooperation across parliamentary, economic, and investment sectors. Both parties exchanged experiences in parliamentary work and coordinated on international parliamentary forums.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Speaker emphasized the strong ties between Bahrain and the Federative Republic of Brazil, noting the ongoing development under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Excellency Luiz In¡cio Lula da Silva, President of Brazil. The Speaker underscored the importance of strengthening parliamentary diplomacy and the role of the Parliamentary Friendship Group in advancing bilateral projects.
The Speaker also highlighted the positive outcomes of reciprocal parliamentary visits, including the Bahraini delegation's visit to Brazil in June 2024, which opened new avenues for cooperation. Both sides emphasized the role of their foreign policies and noted Bahrain's election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2026-2027, a move that reflects international confidence in its balanced approach and support for peace, stability, and coexistence.
On his part, the Senator commended the strong relations between the two countries and acknowledged Bahrain's comprehensive development process. He expressed appreciation for the Speaker's efforts in enhancing bilateral and parliamentary cooperation.
