Speaker Reaffirms Commitment to Oversight and Accountability During Auditor General Meeting.

Manama: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, reaffirmed the legislative authority's commitment to enhancing oversight and parliamentary roles, upholding integrity and accountability, and ensuring the optimal use and preservation of public funds. He stressed that these efforts support the development and sustainability of governmental operations, contributing to the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. According to Bahrain News Agency, the Speaker commended the pivotal role of the National Audit Office (NAO) in safeguarding public funds, ensuring accountability, and promoting productivity and efficiency through adherence to professional and transparent practices. The remarks were made during his meeting with Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Auditor General of the NAO, who presented the NAO's 21st annual report for th e 2023/2024 professional year. The Speaker expressed appreciation for the NAO's efforts and professionalism, affirming the council's commitment to taking constitutional and legal measures to review the report and its recommendations in a professional manner to achieve desired goals. Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed highlighted that the NAO's progress since its establishment is a result of the continued support of HM the King and the directives of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to ensure the implementation of the NAO's recommendations by audited entities. He thanked the Speaker and the Council of Representatives for their cooperation in advancing transparency and following up on the recommendations in the NAO's reports to enhance governance systems and legislation.
