(BNA): Representatives Council Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal participated virtually today in the meeting of the preparatory committee for the 5th World Conference of Speakers of Parliaments (SWCSP) which is set to be held in Vienna on September 7 and 8.
The Representatives Council Speaker’s participation in the preparatory committee’s meeting as a representative of the Arab Parliamentary Group is an assertion of the active and distinguished role of the parliamentary diplomacy in the Kingdom of Bahrain which is considered an added value to the civilizational accomplishments brought about under the comprehensive development march of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
The 5th World Conference of Speakers of Parliaments (SWCSP) will discuss a wide range of issues including the parliamentary leadership for a more effective pluralism that achieves peace and sustainable development for peoples and the planet, towards a new global pact for equality between men and women (gender), mitigation of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on democracy, post-pandemic recovery: transforming the economy to combat climate change and promote sustainable development, the possibility of balancing open, transparent and accessible parliaments, parliaments and global governance.
