Manama: Marking International Youth Day, observed globally on August 12, Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, affirmed that the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has strengthened Bahraini youth's role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and positioned them at the heart of national strategies and projects.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Speaker highlighted the King Hamad Award for Youth Empowerment to achieve the SDGs, launched in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), as a testament to confidence in young people's leadership and ability to serve their communities and future.
He praised the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in creating opportunities, capacity building, and integrating youth into decision-making, notably through the Prime Minister's Fellowship Programme.
He commended the efforts of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty's Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, and His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, in advancing youth achievements across all fields.
Al Musallam cited key initiatives such as Youth City 2030, the Nasser Bin Hamad International Youth Creativity Award, and the Hope Fund as examples of Bahrain's commitment to a sustainable youth sector, reaffirming the legislature's cooperation with the executive branch to meet youth aspirations.
