Speaker: International Day of Conscience initiative reflects Bahrain’s efforts to promote global peace

Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, has stressed the urgent need to spread the culture of coexistence and peace worldwide, promote the spirit of solidarity and tolerance and make such lofty values the basis for convergence among various cultures.

She affirmed that thanks to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s wise visions, the kingdom has adopted an advanced approach and become a role model for coexistence, peace and security.

She highlighted Bahrain’s balanced policies and relations, moderation, exceptional initiatives to consolidate global peace, find solutions to conflicts and disputes, as well as spread the spirit of human coexistence among peoples and societies, based on its solid legislative infrastructure and strategies of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, noting that such values are among the priorities of the kingdom’s national sustainable development efforts.

In a statement marking the International Day of Conscience, which is observed every April 5, in response to a Bahraini initiative, the Speaker asserted that the initiative aims to mobilise the efforts of the International Community to achieve the noble goals of the concept of human conscience.

She praised Bahrain’s launch of such an important initiative related to the challenges currently faced by the entire humanity in order to ensure that the world enjoys peace, security, development and stability.

The Speaker of the Council of Representatives expressed hope that the International Day of Conscience would provide an opportunity to further mobilise the efforts of the International Community towards consolidating global peace, calling on the world to adopt the values related to the human conscience and turn them into tangible steps, and integrated mechanisms to face and address the causes of instability.

She stressed the importance of international collective action in order to lay solid foundations for a permanent peace that creates suitable conditions for countries and peoples to carry on their development process.

Speaker Fawzia Zainal indicated that the International Day of Conscience is an opportunity to promote the culture of conscience and make it an approach that enhances countries’ efforts in the field of sustainable development.

She underlined the keenness of the kingdom and its legislative branch to harness all potentials to boost the international efforts aimed at achieving global security and stability.

She recalled the kingdom’s call for the International Community to adopt the appointment of Global Conscience Ambassadors in order to reach innovative solutions to issues, problems and challenges facing humanity.
