Speaker Highlights Legislative Role in Environmental Sustainability

Manama: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, received Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sisi Al Buainain, Secretary General of the Council of Representatives, on the occasion of the Council obtaining the ISO 14001:2015 certification for environmental management systems. The Speaker underscored the role of the legislative authority in ensuring the sustainability of environmental preservation and development through the enactment and proposal of environmental laws and legislation, as well as encouraging the use of eco-friendly technologies across various fields of work.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Musallam stated that this commitment aligns with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the support and follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. This initiative also supports Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Al Musallam commended the Council of Representatives for receiving the ISO 14001:2015 certification, noting that this achievement places Bahrain's Council of Representatives at the forefront of legislative institutions in the region in the field of environmental management, as it is the first parliament in the Middle East to obtain this recognition. He emphasized that this accomplishment strengthens Bahrain's reputation as a country committed to global environmental standards.

He further commended the efforts of the General Secretariat team, wishing them continued success in achieving distinguished administrative milestones.
