Speaker Highlights Bahrain’s Leadership in Cultural Diversity

Manama: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, emphasised that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and with the support and follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, stands as a leading model in respecting pluralism and cultural diversity.

According to Bahrain News Agency, marking the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, observed annually on May 21, Al Musallam said that achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals requires investing in cultural diversity, promoting broader dialogue and mutual understanding, and advancing communication and openness among nations while preserving national identity and respecting the uniqueness of each society.

He commended the efforts of official institutions, the King Hamad Global Center for Coexistence and Tolerance (KHGC), the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), and civil society organisations for highlighting the civilisational image of the Kingdom. He noted that the cultural sector is one of the most influential and fastest-growing drivers of development and soft power, especially in light of today's technological advancements.
