Speaker Highlights Bahrain’s Citizen-Centric Development and Legislative Efforts Under King’s Leadership

Manama: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, has underscored the citizen-focused development and legislative efforts carried out under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Al Musallam emphasized Bahrain's reform-driven approach, which places citizens at the forefront of national development and legislation through a democratic and participatory parliamentary process.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Musallam's statement came in observance of the International Day of Parliamentarism, which this year highlighted the role of parliaments in advancing human rights and protecting human dignity. He noted that the parliamentary institution has benefited from His Majesty the King's ongoing support since the launch of the comprehensive reform project, enhancing the Council's constitutional role in representing citizens and contributing to national decision-making.

The Speaker praised the support from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for his dedication to fostering closer coordination between the executive and legislative branches, aimed at achieving outcomes beneficial to the public interest.

Al Musallam remarked on Bahrain's legislative and oversight progress in promoting human rights, mentioning laws that bolster protections for women, children, and workers while upholding freedom of expression within legal boundaries. He highlighted the Council's active participation in parliamentary diplomacy, showcasing Bahrain's accomplishments at international forums and countering attempts to misrepresent the Kingdom's human rights record.

The Speaker's statement also addressed regional security issues, condemning Iran's attacks and interference, which he described as threats to civilian lives, critical infrastructure, and regional stability, in violation of international law. He reiterated the Council's support for Bahrain's official stance against such actions and the efforts led by His Majesty the King and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to ensure the security of the Kingdom and the Gulf region.
