Manama: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, chaired the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) parliamentary coordination meeting, held on the sidelines of the 8th Conference of the Arab Parliament and Speakers of Arab Councils and Parliaments in the Arab Republic of Egypt. The Speaker underlined the Kingdom of Bahrain's commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to supporting joint GCC action and strengthening parliamentary cooperation among GCC legislative councils and parliaments.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting focused on the significance of GCC parliamentary coordination in Arab, regional, and international parliamentary forums. This coordination aims to unify positions and bolster efforts to promote security, stability, and development across the region. The meeting also reviewed various topics on the conference agenda.
Among the topics discussed were a draft resolution on creating a unified Arab parliamentary stance against attacks on the sovereignty, security, and stability of Arab states, and another draft resolution on opposing Israeli policies that threaten the Palestinian cause. Additionally, discussions included a parliamentary vision on Arab digital sovereignty and the protection of national privacy in the digital transformation era.
