Manama: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, said the Kingdom of Bahrain's press has consistently demonstrated its prominent role and national responsibility in fulfilling its mission of informing the public and supporting the comprehensive development process. He highlighted that this role was supported by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. According to Bahrain News Agency, Speaker Al Musallam congratulated Bahrain's press and media community on the occasion of Bahrain Press Day, commending the efforts of the Ministry of Information, the National Communication Centre, the Bahrain Journalists Association, media and press institutions, and opinion writers in practicing journalism with objectivity and credibility. He said the observation of Bahrain Press Day is a celebration of overall national progress and is a recognition of the efforts of journalists and media profession als. The Speaker praised the expertise and capabilities within Bahrain's press sector, as well as ongoing progress in the use of modern technologies in digital media and the focus on the quality and professionalism of media content. He also expressed appreciation for the role of Bahrain's press and responsible media in supporting the Kingdom's security, stability and sovereignty, safeguarding national achievements, strengthening public awareness, reinforcing national unity and social cohesion, and promoting the values of loyalty, belonging, citizenship and Bahraini identity. Speaker Al Musallam said the fourth session of the sixth legislative term witnessed the approval of the Press, Printing and Publishing Law, which he described as a national milestone that will support the media sector in Bahrain and provide new momentum towards further development and professionalism. He reiterated parliamentary support for the press and media sector and ongoing cooperation to advance the aspirations and objectives of the journalism profession and media professionals. The Speaker concluded by wishing the press and media community continued success in carrying out its role in an environment of freedom of expression, responsible journalism and professional integrity in service of Bahrain's national interests and the standing of the national press.
