Speaker: All attacks on Palestinians, Al Aqsa Mosque rejected

Council of Representatives Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal has affirmed the firm position of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, in support of the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

The position is in accordance with the principle of the two-state solution, and based on the Arab Peace Initiative, and the relevant international legal resolutions, she said.

The Speaker also stressed the Council’s rejection and denunciation of the attacks on the worshipers in Al Aqsa Mosque, the provocations against the people of Jerusalem, evicting them from their homes, and trying to impose measures contrary to the decisions of the international community.

This would threaten security and stability in the region and undermine the chances of reviving the just and comprehensive peace process, she said as she received Palestine’s Ambassador to Bahrain Taha Abdulqadir.

Zainal pointed out that postponing the Palestinian elections until the participation of the people of Jerusalem, an integral component of the Palestinian people is guaranteed, is the correct decision in order to strengthen Palestinian national unity.
