Seoul: South Korea and the United States have initiated a significant annual joint military exercise to enhance their combined defense capabilities. The Freedom Shield exercise, which commenced on Monday, is set to run through March 20.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the 11-day drills include both computer-simulated scenarios and on-field training designed to improve the interoperability between the two nations. The focus is on strengthening the defense posture and readiness of the allied forces.
South Korea is deploying approximately 19,000 troops for the exercise. The two allies have planned to conduct 16 large-scale on-field drills, an increase from the 10 exercises held last year. This increase aims to bolster the readiness and operational capabilities of both countries' military forces.
