Somalia: Over 47 Terrorists Killed in Military Operations

Mogadishu: The Somali National Army (SNA) announced on Thursday the killing of over 35 terrorist elements and the injury of more than 60 others during a military operation near the town of Daynuunay in the Bay region, southwest Somalia.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the army confirmed it is continuing to pursue the remnants of the armed elements who fled following the operation.

Additionally, the Somali Ministry of Information announced that Somali armed forces, in cooperation with United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), carried out an airstrike targeting a terrorist gathering in Aden Yabal in the Middle Shabelle region.

In a formal statement, the ministry said the airstrike, conducted on Wednesday evening, killed 12 terrorist elements, including field commanders, who had been sheltering in a location used as a base to launch attacks. The ministry confirmed that no civilian casualties resulted from the operation.

The statement highlighted that the strike forms part of ongoing military operations carried out by Somali forces with the support of international partners, aiming to eliminate terrorists attempting to regroup and threaten areas previously liberated by government forces.
