Mogadishu: His Excellency Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, has announced that Somalia will commence drilling its first oil well in the coming months. In addition to oil exploration, the country plans to develop key economic infrastructure, including roads, airports, seaports, and a satellite launch base, which is set to be the first of its kind in Africa.
According to Bahrain News Agency, President Mohamud made these announcements during the opening of the 7th session of the House of the People and the Upper House. During his address, he emphasized the importance of completing the draft constitution, strengthening democracy, and ensuring state stability.
The President also highlighted the government's achievements in various national issues, such as improving security, liberating territories, fostering economic growth, political stability, conflict resolution, and enhancing international relations.
Furthermore, His Excellency expressed his commitment to engaging in dialogue with officials and citizens holding different views to foster unity and national solidarity. He assured continuous support in stabilizing the country's political situation, aligning with the parliament's role, and pursuing national peace.
