Manama: Ebrahim Ahmed Al Fadhala, Director of the Social Welfare Directorate at the Ministry of Social Development, chaired the seventh Extraordinary Meeting of the Committee of Social Affairs Experts of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The meeting was held remotely and included participants from the ministries of social affairs and development across the GCC member states.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Fadhala highlighted that the meeting underscores the solid ties and continuous coordination among GCC nations in various sectors. It represents the collaborative Gulf approach in addressing ongoing developments, particularly in light of recent Iranian attacks targeting the security and stability of GCC states. The meeting stressed the importance of enhancing coordination and integration, reviewing measures undertaken by ministries to support vulnerable groups including children, the elderly, persons with disabilities, and affected families.
The meeting featured presentations from member states on significant social initiatives and interventions, facilitating an exchange of expertise and best practices. The discussions led to several recommendations aimed at bolstering joint Gulf cooperation in the social sector.
The assembly emphasized the need for continued promotion of coordination and cooperation among GCC countries in the social domain. This collaboration is seen as crucial for developing social policies and programs, sharing successful experiences, and supporting joint efforts to strengthen social protection and welfare systems throughout the GCC region.
