Social Development Minister praises Bahraini women

Bahrain is joining the international community in commemorating the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, set on November 25 by United Nations General Assembly, to highlight efforts to eliminate all forms of violence against women and to achieve gender equality.

The day coincides with the “Unite to End Violence Against Women” campaign (November 25 – December 10), a 16-day initiative that concludes on the day the world observes International Human Rights Day, December 10.

Led by the UN Secretary-General and UN Women, the campaign aims to prevent and eliminate violence against women and girls worldwide, and calls for global action to raise awareness and strengthen advocacy for that goal and to provide opportunities to discuss challenges and solutions.

Minister of Social Development Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al Asfoor said that women in Bahrain enjoy appreciation, respect and belief in their abilities and competencies In light of the comprehensive development progress led by HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and supported by HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

They have obtained all their rights to protection against all forms of violence and discrimination, and Bahrain is moving steadily towards strengthening the gains, he said
