Social Development Minister Engages in Arab Regional Meeting for Upcoming World Summit

Tunis: Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi, the Minister of Social Development and Chair of the 44th Session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, participated in a high-level Arab regional meeting hosted by Tunisia. This meeting was organized to prepare for the Second World Summit for Social Development, which is scheduled to take place in Qatar this November. The primary focus of the gathering was to address key social and development priorities pertinent to Arab countries.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Minister Al Alawi highlighted the necessity for a comprehensive development strategy that aids the most vulnerable groups and equips countries to tackle both regional and international challenges effectively. He stressed the importance of enhancing social statistics systems across Arab nations to facilitate decision-making that relies on precise scientific data.

Minister Al Alawi reaffirmed Bahrain's commitment, as the current chair of the Council, to bolster joint Arab initiatives and improve coordination and consultation among member states. Additionally, he participated in a Gulf coordination meeting, organized by the Executive Office of the GCC Council of Ministers of Labour and Council of Ministers of Social Affairs. This meeting, held on the sidelines of the Arab regional meeting, aimed to strengthen the joint Gulf position and harmonize efforts in preparation for the upcoming World Summit for Social Development in Qatar.
