HRH Princess Sabeeka Congratulates Shaikha Hessa on Prestigious COPUOS Appointment

Manama: Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), has extended her congratulations to Shaikha Hessa bint Ali Al Khalifa. Shaikha Hessa, a Member of Legal Affairs at the Bahrain Space Agency, has been appointed as the Second Vice-Chair of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) during its 68th session in Austria. This appointment marks a significant milestone as Shaikha Hessa becomes the first Arab Muslim woman to hold this position.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Princess Sabeeka highlighted that this achievement underscores Bahrain's commitment to enhancing the role of women in various domains. This progress is attributed to the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the strategic directives of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Princess Sabeeka further commended the achievement as a representation of the progress of Bahraini women. She noted that it signifies their increasing contributions to decision-making processes on a global stage, particularly in strategic and specialized fields.
