Manama: Mohammed Khalid Al Hazza, Acting Attorney General and Chief of the Special Investigation Unit (SIU), recently held a meeting with Dr. Mohammed Ali Al Khuzaie, Head of the Human Rights Committee of the Shura Council. The focus of their discussion was on enhancing human rights protections and fostering institutional cooperation.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting provided an opportunity for the delegation to be briefed on the SIU's structure, specialisations, and its role as an independent judicial mechanism in the region. During the meeting, Al Hazza presented key findings from the unit's latest annual report, which notably highlighted an 87% decline in complaints over the past year.
Both parties stressed the significance of boosting collaboration to strengthen human rights protection within the criminal justice system. Dr. Al Khuzaie praised the SIU's efforts in ensuring justice, upholding the rule of law, and contributing to a fair and secure society that supports Bahrain's development.
