Makkah: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the joint ministerial meeting between the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and the Arab Republic of Egypt, held in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting was chaired by Abdullah Ali Al Yahya, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait and President of the current GCC ministerial session, while Egypt was represented by Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Egyptians Abroad. Jassim Mohammed Al Budaiwi, Secretary General of the GCC, was also in attendance.
Discussions at the meeting centered on strengthening historical ties between the GCC and Egypt. The ministers addressed enhancing cooperation across various fields and advancing shared interests. The GCC Secretariat was tasked with coordinating with Egypt on implementing joint cooperation plans in key areas.
Both sides agreed to organize the GCC-Egypt investment forum in the latter half of the year. The meeting also reviewed regional developments, ongoing challenges, and joint Arab efforts to promote security and stability.
The ministers emphasized their commitment to supporting the upcoming international conference for the reconstruction of Gaza, which Egypt will host. They also addressed regional and international issues of common concern. Bahrain's delegation included Shaikh Ali bin Abdulrahman bin Ali Al Khalifa, Ambassador of Bahrain to Saudi Arabia, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
