Manama: The Secretariat-General of the Shura Council received a delegation from the United States Congress, currently visiting the Kingdom. Nancy Dinah Elly Khedouri, a member of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee and the Human Rights Committee at the Shura Council, highlighted Bahrain's longstanding history of peaceful coexistence among diverse cultures and religions, as well as its societal cohesion and tolerance. According to Bahrain News Agency, Khedouri noted that these elements define Bahrain's national identity, making it a model for the region. She emphasised that the royal approach prioritises dialogue, openness, peace, and the promotion of security and stability as key foundations for achieving the prosperity of nations. Khedouri conveyed the greetings of Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, and underscored the importance of such visits in fostering cooperation between legislative bodies and exchanging administrative and technical expertise that supports legislative members. The Secretariat-General briefed the delegation on Bahrain's legislative authority, outlining the roles of the Shura Council, its committees, and the mechanisms of coordination between the Shura Council, the Council of Representatives, and the government. The presentation also highlighted the Secretariat-General's role in supporting Shura Council members.
