Manama, The General Secretariat of the Shura Council, in collaboration with the Nasser Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Centers (NAIRDC), organised a discussion session titled “Future Trends and Adopting AI Opportunities and Expanding Parliament’s Role in Addressing Them”.
The session was held in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, as outlined in his speech at the opening of the third ordinary session of the sixth legislative term of the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives.
The session, led by Dr. Jassim Hajji, the Executive Advisor of the centre, and attended by several Shura Council members, focused on the practical applications and future uses of artificial intelligence, highlighting the legislative authority’s role in developing laws, ensuring transparency, ethical use, and governance. It also examined how digital advancements can enhance parliamentary work.

nds, the legislative authority’s role in shaping sustainable technology policies, and international AI legislation.
The parliamentary support programme aims to equip Shura Council members with the tools needed to perform their duties efficiently, reinforcing the Council’s role in strengthening Bahrain’s democratic process.
