Manama: Nancy Dinah Elly Khedouri, member of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee and the Human Rights Committee at the Shura Council, received a delegation from the United States Congress, comprising members of both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Khedouri emphasized the significance of exchanges that allow for sharing experiences and practices that support parliamentary work in friendly countries. She detailed the efforts of the General Secretariat to improve legislative outcomes and contribute to national development. Khedouri noted the Shura Council's dedication to enhancing ties with legislative bodies, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, which encourage constructive international engagement and leveraging global experience to aid domestic development.
During the meeting, the legislative process within the Shura Council was reviewed, highlighting its collaboration with the Council of Representatives and the government within Bahrain's democratic framework. The discussion also covered the legislative authority's pivotal role in supporting the Kingdom's development and modernization, under the leadership of His Majesty the King and with the oversight of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The delegation received a briefing from the General Secretariat on the duties and responsibilities of the Shura Council, including the role of its committees, the main issues under discussion, and the coordination mechanisms between the Shura Council, the Council of Representatives, and the government. The delegation concluded their visit with a tour of the Council's main chamber.
