Manama: Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, the Chairman of the Shura Council, held a meeting with Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammad Al Khalifa, the Auditor General of the National Audit Office (NAO), who presented the 22nd NAO Annual Report for the fiscal year 2024-2025.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Saleh praised the NAO's reports as a pivotal element in enhancing the consistent efforts of government institutions, fostering broader opportunities for development and innovation in implementing government programmes. He acknowledged the role and efforts of Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammad and the NAO staff for their contributions within a unified Bahrain.
Al Saleh further expressed appreciation for the NAO's commitment to its professional duties, its continuous enhancement of oversight systems, and its support in ensuring the effective implementation of government programmes, projects, and initiatives within the established frameworks.
He underscored the NAO's significant role in ensuring the efficiency and sustainability of government institutions, aligning with Bahrain's development agenda under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammad highlighted the NAO's proactive approach in report preparation, adhering to international technical standards and the laws of the Kingdom of Bahrain, to serve the national interest. He expressed gratitude to His Majesty the King for his continued support, and to the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for urging government entities to implement the NAO's recommendations.
Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammad reported that in the past fiscal year, the NAO completed 104 oversight tasks, issued 84 reports, and 104 follow-up reports, resulting in approximately 1,224 recommendations. The NAO's follow-up showed that 84.9% of recommendations were either implemented or in progress, marking a slight increase from the previous fiscal year.
