Shura Council Chairman Engages with Indonesian Speaker to Bolster Parliamentary Collaboration

Baku: Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, met with Puan Maharani, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Indonesia, on the sidelines of the 15th Plenary Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), held in Azerbaijan. The meeting focused on strengthening parliamentary cooperation and enhancing Bahrain-Indonesia ties.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Saleh commended the growing partnerships and bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade and investment, highlighting the strong diplomatic relations between the two countries and their shared commitment to advancing shared interests. The chairman also noted the alignment of Bahrain and Indonesia's visions in promoting peace, coexistence, and tolerance. He underscored Bahrain's commitment to the values of peace and dialogue and its ongoing support for international efforts to uphold security and stability as essential foundations for development.

Al Saleh emphasised the need to strengthen parliamentary cooperation for sustainable development and highlighted the Shura Council's commitment to exchanging legislative expertise. He also highlighted the role of legislative bodies in promoting peace, coexistence, and tolerance.

On her part, the Speaker commended the Bahrain-Indonesia ties, describing them as a model of cooperation built on mutual respect and shared interests. She praised the Shura Council's efforts in strengthening parliamentary ties and developing effective engagement with legislatures worldwide. She also commended the high level of parliamentary coordination between Bahrain and Indonesia in Asian and international parliamentary forums.
